The Power to Remain Straight in the Face of the Storm | Psychosomatic TotUna 17 | Ana Maria Mavru
The body knows. Before the mind formulates a question, before the soul finds a word for what it feels — the body knows. That tightness in your chest, that restlessness after a conversation, that feeling that something doesn’t align with who you truly are — these are not signs of weakness. They are signs of health. They are the voice of an inner being that hasn’t forgotten, even if you’ve forgotten to listen to it.
In this edition, Ana Maria Mavru explores one of the oldest and most difficult arts of being human: the power to remain upright — in values, in feeling, in action — when life tests exactly what you value most.

The power to stay upright
in the face of the storm
The pure and righteous soul is the one who does the will of the Divine Father. The one who is righteous in feeling, righteous in thinking and righteous in action. Often, life puts us through trials to see how righteous we are, how much we value our values, what strength we have to maintain them when it seems like those around us have sold their souls. And how painful it is when you see this and know, deep down, what is good and what is bad.
Having values, power, and doing the will of the soul means enduring situations that test these values, precisely so that we can empower ourselves more, bring them to a high rank in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Today you must have the wisdom to choose the evil you can face, not to fight the evil you cannot bear.
This wisdom often comes from repeated failures, where you realize that the hardship was too much.
Lessons that are repeated until we learn
You learn, in this way, to choose what is right for you and what you can bear. You distinguish which burdens are yours and which are others'. You no longer let the burden of your family or those around you weigh you down so much.
You learn which projects to be a part of and which not to be. You feel when something is “rotten.” You have an intuition, a tightness in your body, mental restlessness after a discussion or a meeting.
You turn situations upside down. Sometimes, you can fall into fantasy—especially when it comes to promises, money, or things that feed the ego. You can lie to yourself. You can dream of a quick fix.
But all of these are, in fact, tests. They are not bad. They are necessary for your values to become stronger.
The idea is not to run away from the difficult, but to choose what we can carry.
Because, regardless of the choice, life takes its course. A "no" said where a "yes" should have been will bring about another similar situation, perhaps with a different intensity.
If you have desired healing, God will send you people and contexts that will help you look within yourself and understand more about your wounds.
There is no need to close yourself off. You need to look at yourself gently and ask yourself questions:
- – What do I have to learn from this situation?
- – What wound has activated on me?
- – If it has happened before, why is it appearing again? What new nuance am I discovering now?
Anger, sadness, despair, regret come with these experiences. But if you manage to transcend them through introspection and awareness, this is where the true art of life begins.
Things happen and we can't control them. What's important is to keep our intuition, right thinking, pure feeling and actions aligned with our soul.

What does it mean to be a righteous man?
A righteous person has a pure soul and a clear mind. He is the one who sees fantasy as a weakness of the mind and soul. He is the one who listens with his heart and is guided by intuition, not just by his ego.
He is the one who transcends the words of others and perceives beyond appearances. He is the one who is patient, who is anchored in reality and who listens to the inner voice and to God.
The Somatic Perspective
Life is full of challenges. They come when you least expect them. We will all be tested. Some will fail, some will not. But the soul is patient—it gives us the same lesson until we learn it. And there is nothing wrong with that. Failing is part of the process. Succeeding is part of the process. Your being chose this path.
- What do you take from this journey of life?
- What values do you have to stay upright?
- What values do you still need to develop to remain upright in the face of temptation?
There are just a few lines that may help you be closer to your soul and to God.

ARTICLE AUTHOR
Ana Maria Mavru
Ana Maria Mavru is a somatic therapist and practitioner of integrative body-mind-soul approaches. Her practice is based on the belief that healing is not an exclusively mental or exclusively spiritual process — but one that involves the entire being, from the subtle sensations of the body to the deepest values of the soul.
He works with people in the midst of real transformational processes—moments when old answers no longer work and the body becomes the first messenger of a truth that the mind has not yet formulated. His writings combine a therapeutic perspective with a deeply spiritual dimension, inviting a form of courage that is not the absence of fear, but remaining present in it.
